Read your labels
If you’re like me you want to make sure you choose the best supplement for your horses needs.
The first place to start is always the label.
But even then it isn’t always easy to understand the information as it’s presented.
To make things a little easier we have some suggestions that’ll help:
What does Pharmaceutical Grade mean?
There are basically 3 different grades of raw materials used in products.
They are:
Pharmaceutical grade - meets pharmaceutical standards.
(synthetics vitamins are fabricated using severe chemicals to manufacture them)
Food Grade - category indicating the relative quality of food, equipment and chemicals used in food as determined by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
(3 grades from A-B-C with C being the absolute lowest grade.)
This grade is readily manipulated to consumers and can easily be misrepresented.
Feed Grade - meets standards set for animal consumption
(example might be copy that says “for horses only”)
The quality and purity of these feed grade products are the lowest of all 3 grades.
This low quality reflects in the lower cost of these products.

Horse Moms Supplements are
Premium - Grade A Food Grade - Cold Milled
(to keep freshness and potency in)
A natural ingredient doesn’t mean what you’re getting is a natural or organic product
Just because a supplement says it “includes a natural product” doesn’t mean the entire product is a natural product. Take note of all the ingredients and how the order of ingredients are listed.
The ingredient listed first is the one with the greatest amount in the product & the one listed last has the least.
How long will a plant based supplement stay potent and what effects the potency?

- Delays non-enzymatic browning of fruits and some vegetables
(Our ingredients taste, smell and look as good as the day they were picked)
The shelf life (with full potency) for our plant based supplements range from 8-16 months depending on the product and potency can be effected by light and exposure to the air.
We include an “oxygen eater” to preserve the freshness and quality of foods and extend shelf life.
They increase the potency, freshness and taste by greatly reducing the oxygen in the packaging. They’re made in the USA and are the only type approved by the US military. They eliminates the need for additives such as BHA, BHT, sulfur dioxide, sorbates, benzoates, etc

While oxygen eaters are not edible, they are not toxic.

Natural should not contain ingredients like these
- methyl,
- propyl,
- butyl
- ethyl parabens
Some companies use chemical preservatives called “parabens”.
Be on the lookout for words like;
These synthetic chemicals are cheap to use.
But they have been shown to have a role in the development of cancer.
